The city of College Place has made safe walking and biking a priority, and their Public Works team stays busy overseeing all the infrastructure upgrades. Did you know the city has added 7 miles of bike infrastructure since 2019?
BZP and student volunteers had the privilege of working with the city of College Place on the 4Bikes Project that implemented a two-way bike lane along 4th St. The city was awarded a Complete Streets grant from the Transportation Improvement Board to continue the cycle track constructed previously on 4th St. and Academy Way. The track now extends all the way to downtown and new lighting was installed along the route to make it safer to walk and bike at all hours of the day.
“The 4Bikes project is a quintessential example of a Complete Street and exemplifies the ideals in the Complete Street ordinance adopted by City Council back in 2017 that states the city will strive to construct roadways that are multimodal (care, bike, scooter, pedestrian),” said College Place City Administrator, Michael Rizzitiello.
