SCHOOL

Berney Elementary

Walla Walla, WA, 99362

Berney elementary originally opened its doors in 1904 as a four room school house serving students up to the eighth grade. It was a modern building with electric lights and central heating, but not running water. Berney school was named for U.H. Berney who served as chairman for the school district for over 25 years. Mr. Berney donated the land for our athletic field and the bell for the bell tower which is still in use today. Berney has a long standing tradition as a community school and we have many second and third generation Berney Bulldogs.  We have a caring and committed staff that go above and beyond to make sure that our students succeed.

College Place High School

College Place, WA, 99324

College Place High School is a four year comprehensive high school focused on striving to do school different. We have set our sights high to create an environment that will not only teach kids but inspire them to be lifelong learners. We believe this comes to fruition by hiring the right teachers. Teachers who recognize that students learn in more ways than one and they embrace teaching that is outside the box of traditional education. Teachers who believe that project based learning (PBL) connects learning to relevance in the world around us. Teachers who are flexible, creative and purpose driven. Teachers who act and care for each other like a family. Teachers who believe that the success of our students is to graduate with a solid "fifth" year plan and are productive citizens in a global economy. But most importantly, teachers who love to mentor and care for the students in our community. College Place High School is driven by the CPPS Vision, Mission and Guiding Principles. Vision Statement: Focusing on kids and their learning. Mission Statement: As a College Place graduate, I will distinguish myself by communicating, leading, learning and serving with integrity. Sharpstein Elementary School

Walla Walla, WA, 99362

Every morning, our students are greeted with our principal's daily morning announcements: "Good morning, Sharpstein, home of the Stompers, where our core values are COMMUNITY, INTEGRITY, and PERSEVERANCE." Sharpstein is proud to be Washington State's oldest continuously-operating school, opening in 1898. We are proud of our beautiful building and grateful our community supported renovation rather than tearing it down and starting over. Walking in to our foyer, which is built around the original stone-arched entrance, is awe-inspiring. Sharpstein is a true neighborhood school, with a compact attendance area allowing many students to walk or ride their bike to school. We are within walking distance of Whitman College and Pioneer Park, and our students are able to use these community resources to support their learning. Visiting Whitman's observatory, or Pioneer Park's aviary are experiences our students look forward to.
